Acoustic Applications in Fisheries

Abstract:

Acoustics knowledge is a branch of physics science which has a great connection to other sciences like lights, acoustic waves, electricity, acoustic architect and … that has found a great usage in our life, today. Acoustics has found a very important profit in fisheries and its using instead of old methods of sampling between fishery researchers now.

These acoustics apparatus can show the underwater world on echo gram or CRT monitors to us with transmitting the beam under many different angles, directions, frequencies and depths. These information can be use to detect the size, species, weight, migration’s direction and some other important factors about the survey area.

Nevertheless, in our country (IRAN), acoustics apparatus and knowledge are more strange, contrary to European and American or some other modern countries.

This article try to introduce acoustic applications in fisheries, acoustic apparatus, acoustic benefits for stock assessment and much other acoustic profits for our country’s fisheries improvement in the future, to the readers.
